Bishop Joseph K. Turnes, Sr., J.D.

Bishop Joseph Kenneth Turnes, Sr. is the servant leader of Tittusville A.O.H. Church of God. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, the eighth of nine children and a product of the Birmingham School System.

 

The Lord called and commissioned Bishop Turnes to proclaim the "Good News" of the Word of GOD in 1990. Bishop Turnes "accepted" his calling and began to prepare himself through training in Los Angeles, California for the journey of Ministry. Bishop Turnes has served faithfully as pastor of Tittusville A.O.H. Church of God since 2012.

 

He holds fast to the motto: "Enter to Worship; Depart to Serve." Under his faithful and dedicated leadership, not only has souls been saved and filled with the Precious Gift of the Holy Ghost, but the membership has increased, and the church has also completed a Renovation of the Physical Structure as well. Prior to this appointment at Tittusville, Bishop Turnes served as servant leader of the Pine Hill A.O.H. Church of God for 10 years, the O. Street A.O.H. Church of God for 2 years, the Alabaster A.O.H. Church of God for 2 years and the Fountain of Praise Church for 2 years.

Bishop Turnes is married to Lady Latriece Turnes. Together they have two children: Joseph Kenneth Turnes, Jr. and James Marshal Turnes. Bishop Turnes lives by the principle that it is important to "Minister to the Whole Man."

 

Bishop Turnes is also the Chief of Staff to the Office of the Presiding Prelate, Bishop Lawrence E. Williams, the A.O.H. National Church Consultant and President of the National Public Relations Ministry. He has been a National Executive Board Member since 2004 and serves as Vice President of the Foreign Mission Ministry. He is also the Bishop of the State of Ohio which is comprised of the 9th District. In 2020, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Bishop Turnes founded "Clergy United" which is a Service-Oriented, Inter-denominational Organization made up of Holy Men and Women whose purpose is to Serve God through Service to Our Communities. He serves as the current president.

 

Bishop Turnes' educational accomplishments include a Juris Doctorate Degree in Law from Miles Law School and the Birmingham School of Law. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Lawson State Community College where he teaches Law and the Legal Environment. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a minor in Criminal Justice as well as an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Jefferson State Community College.

 

Accomplishments include successful business owner of Amazing Limousine Service, past member of the Metropolitan Arts Council (MAC) Board of Directors and the Birmingham Sister City Commission Board of Directors where he was the Commissioner to South Africa which are Mayoral appointments & retired as a Business Executive from Verizon Wireless.
